The company was founded in Philadelphia in 1860 as John Wyeth and Brother, was later known, in the early 1930s, as American Home Products, and was renamed Wyeth in 2002. The Canadian factors, Lymans, Ltd., was much older, being founded in 1800 by Lewis Lyman and George Wadsworth in Montreal. It was acquired by International Bronze Powders, Ltd. in 1958.
