Mark Twain's Sketches, New and Old

TWAIN, Mark; WILLIAMS, True (illus.)

Regular price $100.00 CAD Sale

A collection of Twain's stories and essays, previously published in various newspapers and magazines. Illustrated by artist True Williams, who became famous for illustrating Twain's books. All the stories are fictional except for "The Case of George Fisher." The best known may be "Cannibalism in the Cars" which tells the darkly humorous tale of apparent acts of cannibalism from the point of view of a congressman on a snowbound train. It indirectly satirises the American political system in a dark manner only Twain could assume.
