CODY, H. A.
Hiram Alfred Cody (1872-1948) was a clergyman born in Codys, New Brunswick, a village named after his family. He was better known in his own lifetime for his ministry but he was still one of Canada's most widely read authors. Under Sealed Orders begins with a "pauper auction," a local custom where residents bid against each other to earn money by taking in poor orphans, seniors and others. The result is a lesson in human nature.
