FARRERE, Claude; PUTNAM, Samuel (trans.).
Claude Farrère, pseudonym of Frédéric-Charles Bargone (1876 – 1957), was a French author of novels set in exotic eastern locations. A prolific writer, he resigned from the French army in 1919 to concentrate on his writing career. The best known reference to Farrère today may be the perfume "Mitsouko" by Guerlain; Mitsouko is a beautiful Japanese woman in Farrère's novel La Bataille (1909).
