Junius is the pseudonym of a writer whose letters appeared in the Public Advertiser, a London newspaper, between Jan. 21, 1769 and Jan. 21, 1772. They appeared regularly for three years and then stopped with no further word from the author. They have survived as English classics due to their Whig philosophy, effective use of slanderous polemics, and the mystery surrounding their authorship.
