An extensive work outlining the writer's firsthand experiences of an explosive time in South America. "Of many of the facts related the author himself has been witness, and of many others he possesses detailed accounts from men of credit and information" (pp. v-vi). Although the main author was Palacio Fajardo, Venezuelan patriot, congress member, and ardent spokesman for independence, the writer and diplomat Andres Bello may have been co-author.
