Originally planed as a 72-volume set; however, it was never completed, in all likelihood because its final years of publication coincided with the French Revolution. Leather bindings. Marbled endpapers and edging. Gold impressing on spine with some edging the boards. French language text. Ex-;library with small library tag pasted on the paste down endpaper in the front of each volume. Significant wear to the bindings of the entire set with tearing, bumped corners, and deterioration of the leather's quality in various states throughout the entire set. Endpapers and title pages in some volumes have tears and stains. Front endpaper torn out in vol. 36. Corner of p. 353 in vol. 58 torn out. Part of outside margin torn out of vol. 61 fr. 29-32. The body pages themselves are clean with only occasionaly spotting thoughtout. While the set shows its age, none of the volumes are broken or missing content. The set remains highly readable.
