French historian Adrien Richer (1720-1798) compiled these "great events from little causes." An example is how the love of Paris for Helen led to the siege and destruction of Troy. Other chapters are about the Roman civil war between Antony and Octavian and the Rape of Lucrece. It may be difficult to separate fact from mythology in much of Richer's "history."
