  2 vols.: xiv, 418; xi, 418 p. 22 cm. 9 colour plates in vol. I and 10 colour plates in Second Series as well as numerous b&w drawings. Woodcuts and designs by Harden S. Melville, engraved by H. Newsom Woods. Colour illustrations from watercolours by F. W. Keyl and R. Huttula. Volume I quarter burgundy leather with marbled paper boards, endpapers and text block edges. Gold spine impression. Volume II is quarter green leather and green cloth boards with red leather spine label with gold impression, speckled text block edge. Vol. I boards rubbed, corners bumped. Vol. II has some scuffs to leather and worn corners. Bookplate on volume I pastedown for Somersetshire College in Bath, 1864. Volume II two has a loose front hinge, light stains and thumbing, and tiny bookseller label on rear pastedown.
