One of Hollywood's most prominent movie stars, Joan Crawford was at one time one of the highest paid women in the United States. In later years she kept up a voluminous correspondence with many people, one of whom was Robert Jean of Wells Beach, Maine. This letter refers to a book entitled "The Great Movie Stars - The Golden Years" by British film critic David Shipman; the book consists of small biographies of stars from the 1920s to the 1940s. Joan also refers to the film "That's Entertainment," which came out in 1974. It was released by MGM to celebrate its 50th anniversary and featured performances by various artists taken from the studio's numerous films.
