The original 1883 children's fantasy novel by Italian author Carlo Collodi. This version is an adventure-filled, menacing fairy tale with a moral and is not primarily about lying. Yes, Pinocchio's nose grows when he tells lies, since his "lie happens to be one of those that have long noses," but that's just part of his general misbehavior. This selfish puppet hates to be corrected, burns his wooden feet off, sells his spelling book to attend a puppet show, and refuses to take his medicine.
