the great and increasing extent of the City of Toronto and the great demand for a cheap and effective mode of lighting the streets and places in the said City, as well as many houses, shops and other buildings therein, render it desirable that more than one Company should be established for the purpose of furnishing a further supply of Gas for lighting.
