Originall called the Lakeside, this boat was built in 1901 by the Craig Shipbuilding Company. An ad in the Sandusky, Ohio Register for August 10, 1908 provides prices for round trips from Sandusky to Cleveland or Detroit, about $13.50 or $20 in today's money. In 1911, the steamer was renamed Olcott, chartered by the Buffalo, Lockport and Rochester Transit Company to ferry passengers from Olcott, NY to Toronto. In 1916 the boat was sold to the French government and never returned to the Great Lakes.
