Anno Lucis (A.L.) is Latin for In the Year of Light. The term is frequently used in Masonic procedure to express a year that is 4,000 beyond Anno Domini or The year of Our Lord. Hence the title page date of A. L. 5860, 4,000 years after publication date of A.D. 1860. Note bookplate designed by James Jervis Blomfield (1879-1951), Canadian artist and designer best known for his design of the coat of arms of Vancouver.
