Bouchette was the son of Lieut Col. Joseph Bouchette, Surveyor-General for Lower Canada. William Day (1797-1845) & Louis Haghe (1806-95) were partners in an early Victorian firm of lithographers who printed a wide range of subjects, such as hunting scenes, topographical views and genre depictions. Their lithographs were so meticulously conceived and technically advanced that in 1838 they were appointed Lithographers to the Queen.
