Under some circumstances it might have been presumptuous in the Toronto Club to open its rooms for the purpose of an exhibition of loaned pictures, although the mere departure from the ordinary functions of a club needs no excuse. Lenders included Sir Donald Smith, Sir William Van Horne, and others. Artists exhibited included Constable, Corot, Daubigny, Delacroix, Reynolds, and Steen.
