Sir Frank William Brangwyn RA RWS RBA (1867 1956) was a Welsh artist, painter, watercolourist, printmaker, illustrator, and designer. Famous in his lifetime, he is less well known today. It's possible to link the decline of interest in Brangwyn's work to the decline of the British Empire itself. The artist's bold, vigorous style was suited to the optimistic spirit of late-Victorian British society, but inconsistent with the less confident feeling prevalent in the post World War I period.
