John Henry Walsh (1810-88), English writer on sport under the pseudonym of "Stonehenge," was born at Hackney, London. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1844 and for several years followed the profession of surgeon. Gradually, he abandoned his practice because of the success of his works on sports.
