D'Anvers was a pseudonym for Mrs. Arthur (Nancy) Bell, who translated at least two other Verne books. Front has gilt image of snarling animal beside prostrate man and spine has solitary figure gazing downwards. Mylar wrap (removed for photo). Corners worn, spine ends chipped and torn. Hinges cracking internally. Foxing to frontispiece and title. One signature jutting out a bit.
