The Fur Country or Seventy Degrees North Latitude

VERNE, Jules; D'ANVERS, N. (trans.)

Regular price $750.00 Sale

Printed November 1873 wth a postdated title page listing 1874, so possibly the first edition in English since the London edition was also issued that month. N. D'Anvers was a pseudonym for Mrs. Arthur (Nancy) Bell, who translated at least two other Verne books. This fun story about northern Canada includes fur traders, polar bears, avalanches, dog sleds, Aurora Borealis, wolves, and, of course, "Esquimaux" in kayaks. Myers 27. Taves & Michaluk V010.
