John Pearson (1610-1686), an English theologian from Great Snoring, wrote this collection of works orginally as lectures for the Church of St. Clement in Eastcheap, London. An important work of English dogma for the Anglican historian.

Worn and front board detached. Ink signature on front pastedown. Worm holes front endpapers and into first pages. More holes towards centre and rear, always in bottom margin towards centre. Hole in p. 7 top. Ink notation on frontispiece page and p. 343. Well-thumbed. A few small spots only except for brown mark in margin of p. 320 and ink blot on p. 39. Also some damp stains towards rear. Text block holding together well. Frontispiece and title page have red rules. Obviously a well-read copy.
