Small holes in margins. Front page of August 4 edition soiled at top as is page opposite. Some marks on March 31, pages 2 and 3. Newfoundland newspapers from the year the world changed forever - 1914. Much to do with World War I from August 11 onwards. A great deal of hyperbole and jingoism, but also a very truthful comment: "And what of the struggle? It will be the most stupendous, the most staggering conflict the world has ever known." Interspersed with 11 government proclamations.
