Written by the author of "Tom Brown's Schooldays," this 1859 travel book is written and presented in the form of a novel. It recounts Hughes' experience in the Berkshire region while also providing a full plot with lots of allusions to history and mythology related to the British Isles. An interesting experiment in fantasy.
