Malcolm Muggeridge (1903-1990) was an investigative journalist who in 1932 at the time of this book's publication, had moved to Moscow with his wife to investigate Communism, later becoming vocally anti-communist. He became both a solider and spy, turning to Christian writings by the end of the 1960s.
