Cavellini coined the term "autostoricizzazione" (self-historcization) and created his own popular history. He was also a prolific collector of abstract art. His correspondence pioneered "mail-art" when he his new work by post to 15,000 recipients. Appropriating art history, as can be seen in this album, was a means for Cavellini not to deconstruct traditions, but to insert himself into them.
