Rev. William Case sought to evangelize the Native Americans to Christianity. Case's views, which would be highly unfashionable today, were actually quite progressive for the time, urging European settlers to see Natives as fellow human beings. These efforts earned the admiration of Rev. Carroll, the first Catholic bishop for America, who wrote these volumes.
