Sir W. Thomson became Lord Kelvin and later editions of this work note Lord Kelvin as author. He is best known for developing the Kelvin scale of absolute temperature measurement. As for Tait, this was his best known work. Thomson and Tait were friends for over 20 and referred to their partnership as "T and T." Part 2 was never published.
