Willson, founder of the Temple of Peace at Sharon, Ontario, had previously been expelled by the Quakers for advocating the use of music in worship services. At Sharon he and his followers formed the first civil band in Canada. Willson died in 1866 and his group disbanded in 1897 but their temple still stands at Sharon. Bookplate of John A. MacDonald looks a little too new and clean; it's likely a fake produced by H. Borden Clarke, a "creative" Canadian bookdealer. TPL 1937. Watters p. 855.
