Poem in Norwegian by Bjornstjerne Bjornson (1832-1910), winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1903, but the handwriting is not his.

    Unpaginated. 45 leaves. 12 cm leather book with gold impressing. Edges gilt. Some scratches to exterior. Front free endpaper missing and all endpapers darkened. Front hinge tender. Poetry on the seasons, friendship, love, Christian life. Spidery Victorian writing in many different hands. One page is written backward. Another is dated 1814 but perhaps it's the date of the poem that begins "The brightest rose when faded..." 3 leaves detached.
