Before he created Conan the Barbarian, Howard invented Solomon Kane, a 17th-century Puritan who wanders the world with no apparent goal other than to vanquish evil in all its forms. This collection includes a tribute to the author by his friend H. P. Lovecraft, who states that Howard's "loss at the age of thirty is a tragedy of the first magnitude, and a blow from which fantasy fiction will not soon recover."
