An amusing collection of prints containing both colour and b&w representations of female fashion and life at the turn of the twentieth century. The colour plate "RSVP" is one many will recognize. The illustrations feature Phillips' trademark style of the "fadeaway girl," in which the figures fade into the background leaving a suggestion of a lovely lady. When Life Magazine began to use colour on its covers in 1908, the Fadeaway Girl made her initial appearance and was an instant success. Beautiful nostalgia.
