The privately run fine press publisher, Nonesuch Books, was founded by Francis Meynell, Vera Mendel, and David Garnett in 1922 and run, at first, out of the basement of Garnett's bookshop, Birrell & Garnet. The book is a celebratory bibliographic assessment of the press's first 100 books from 1923-34. Includes A.J.A. Symons' "Appraisal," Francis Meynell's "The Personal Element," Desmond Flower's "Bibliography" as well as illustrations for devices, bindings, text and title pages (other than insets), illustrations and inset pages.
