Frre Marie-Victorin (born Conrad Kirouac), member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, botanist, and teacher, was the first chair of botany at Universit de Montral, founder of the Institut de Botanique and the Montral Botanical Garden, as well as being author of this book in 1935.
