Matthew Henry (1662-1714) was a Presbyterian Minister who is best remembered for his critical commentary of the King James' Bible, originally titled "An Exposition of the Old and New Testament" (1708-10). This book represents part of a large project that Henry never finished, but which was continued by various devotees after his death. The large quarto book is designed to be displayed and to serve as a family Bible and study guide.

Includes frontispiece, "Jerusalem as in the Time of Christ" and "View of Bethlehem: Eastern Shepherd Watching His Flock" on title page. Additional black and white etchings throughout the text. Endpapers and frontispiece creased. Tissue guard protecting frontispiece torn with holes. Some staining to endpapers and titlepage. Scuffs and rubbing to boards, corners worn.
