Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada during the Rebellion of 1837, Sir Francis was known by such nicknames as "Galloping Head" and "Sir Francis Bonehead." Cundall Downes & Co. were active at 168 New Bond Street, the address on the rear, from 1863 to 1865.
