Macdonald was Premier of the Province of Canada from 1862 to 1864 and the first Premier of Ontario from 1867 to 1871. Jules-Isae Benot dit Livernois founded his first photography studio in Quebec in 1854. He died in 1865 and his widow Elise took over the family business. Soon she partnered with her son-in-law, Louis Bienvenu, to form the studio Livernois & Bienvenu.
