Text translated into English reads: "I declare having sold and ___ to Monsieur Grandidier the little negro of ___ named Jean Baptiste creole aged eight years, for the sum of eight hundred livres to be paid me in cash in Port au Prince, the 3rd of March 1798. Roberjot Lartigue."
