Vennor was a geologist, ornithologist, and meteorologist, born in Montreal in 1841. From 1865 to 1880 he was on the staff of the Geological Survey of Canada, and his reports contained much of practical value. The birds of prey featured include: falcons (including peregrine); hawks; buzzards; ospreys; bald eagles; owls; etc.

    viii, 154 p. text. 27 cm. 30 pasted-on albumen photographs by William Notman. Brown cloth hardcover with gold and black impressing to front, including attractive gilt owl. Blank impressing to rear. Only library markings are ink stamp and notation on rear of title. A "wave" to photo plates, apparently usual for this volume, as it occurred when plates were mounted. Some thumbing. Dampstains on pages before first plate. Respined with original spine overlaid, repairs to corners, new free endpapers.
