Bedouin Tribes of the Euphrates

BLUNT, Lady Anne; W.S.B. (ed.)

Regular price $175.00 Sale

When one learns that Lady Anne Blunt (18371917) was a granddaughter of Lord Byron, it becomes less surprising that this Victorian woman became an adventurous traveler in the Near East. She was the most accomplished horsewoman and breeder of Arabian horses of her time period. Her husband was the poet and diplomat Wilfrid Scawen Blunt (1840 1922), the "W.S.B." who wrote the preface and a few chapters on Arabian horses. Anne and Wilfrid travelled to the East to purchase Arabian horses from Bedouin tribesmen, which they transported back to England. Sadly, the couple separated in 1913, Wilfrid living in Britain and Anne dying in Cairo in 1917.
