Alfred Shrubb was one of the greatest runners Britian ever produced. The bricklayer from Sussex totally dominated British athletics between 1901 and 1904, winning ten AAA championships and taking both national and international cross country titles. His book discusses preparation and training, long-distance races, sprint running, cross-country running, etc.
