The Poetical Works of Milman, Bowles, Wilson, and Barry Cornwall. Complete in One Volume
A collection of minor English poets of the Romantic period. The volume is a beautiful example of a hand-tooled leather binding and is originally from the library of Newstead Abbey, the Byron family estate in Nottinghamshire (tucked inside this volume is an article about Newstead Abbey from 1896). The Parisian publisher, Galignani, was famous for its pirated editions, until a treaty of 1852 put a stop to such printings. Sir Walter Scott referred to Galignani's shop as the "old pirate's den."
