Mason (1838-1908) helped the United States National Museum move its collections into its first purpose-built museum building, the beginning of the Smithsonian. Although dated 1902, and known to be part of a report for the year ending June 30, 1902, this volume may have been printed by the Government Printing Office in 1904.
