The Gûlistân of Musle-Huddeen Shaik Sâdy of Sheeráz. Volume I
GLADWIN, Francis (trans.)
May be the Calcutta edition of 1806 since the dedication page is dated 1806 at Patna. Dedication to Marquess Wellesley, Governor-General of India and brother of the Duke of Wellington. Francis Gladwin (d. ca. 1813) was a lexicographer and prolific translator of Persian literature into English. His translations were accompanied by the original Persian text. His translation of The Gûlistân, written in lucid, uniform prose, succeeds in conveying much of the rhetoric of the original.
