The Advertisement at the beginning of Vol. I explains that, with the exception of a few small pieces and the "Excursion," the four volumes contain all the published poems of the author. This is followed by a dedication dated 1815 to Sir George Beaumont, and a Preface dating to the same year. At the end of Vol. III is an Essay; Supplement to the Preface.
