PHILALETHES [LESLIE, Charles]

Regular price $750.00 Sale

Philalethes was the pseudonym of Charles Leslie (1650-1722), an Irish-born Jacobite who wrote many works on divinity and theology during and after the tumultuous English Civil War. These 6 volumes contain the contents of his periodical, originally titled "The Observator" (1704-09), changing its name to "The Rehearsal of Observator" and later to "The Rehearsal." Leslie was a religious zealot who wrote many works that criticize Catholics, Jews, and anything he deemed heretical in his defense of the sacraments.
