The result of a famed pact with fellow Oxford student Gilbert West to disprove two tenants of Christianity (Paul's conversion and the resurrection of Christ). The two worked for a year and, unexpectedly, became true believers. West published his conclusions in, "Observations on the history and evidences of the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (Dodsley, 1747).
