ix, 29 p. + plates. 30 cm. 104 b&w plates, 16 of which are tipped-in with tissue guards. Poor Blake. Largely unrecognised during his own lifetime, it was only after his death that became thought of as one of the most important artists of the Romantic Age. Hostile to organized religion, particularly the Church of England, he nevertheless remained reverant towards the Bible as these prints show. White spine with grey-paper covered boards. Some wear to corners and soiling to spine. Rear hinge tender. Bookplate on front pastedown. Photo corners on discoloured front free endpaper. Two clippings added to rear endpapers.
