The book title translates to "Treatise on human duties in three books," usually shortened to "On Duties." Cicero's work about the best way to live and behave is here translated from Latin to German by Christian Garve, one of the best-known philosophers of the late Enlightenment period. The font is printed in German fraktur script, in use from the 16th century until 1940.
