British fishes from Albacore to Wrasse. William Yarrell (1784 - 1856) was an English bookseller and naturalist, best known for these volumes as well as his "History of British Birds." Not surprisingly, he had a reputation for being the best shot and best angler in London.

    3 vols.: xxxvii, 408; 472; iv, 72 p. 23 cm green cloth hardcovers respined with pink cloth. First two volumes illustrated with nearly 400 woodcuts; supplement to the second volume has 60 more. Edge wear, bumped corners. Discolouration to edges of boards in first two volumes. Supplement is in a slightly soiled green buckram, also respined in pink cloth. Ink stamps on front and rear endpapers. Small labels on front and rear pastedowns in vol. 1. Worm hole in top corner of supplement. Interiors clean.
