An eyewitness account of the war between Britain and France in North America. Pouchot (1712-1767), one of Canada's defenders, writes a vivid account of 18th-century European and Native warfare, as well as observations of the customs and habits of the tribes and topographical descriptions of Canada. A military engineer and officer in the French regular army, Pouchot served in Italy, Flanders, and Germany. This edition contains the Preface from the earlier edition and a "Eulogy" of Pouchot.
