First edition. vii, 232 p. 30 cm. 21 plates including fold-out showing Arsenal at Vienna and Great Gun at Moscow. Also includes 13 smaller fold-out plates at rear with diagrams. Black cloth with blank impessing. Wrapped in mylar with title label on front. Edges and corners worn with some scuffing to cloth on boards. Ink inscription on front pastedown to "Stevenson Archer from E. H. Webster 1861". Both men from Bel Air, MD and both at one time members of Congress. Inscribtion has marked front free endpaper. Rear endpapers have ears and chips. Some foxing.
